Club Aliga is the former holiday resort of the communist party where Fidel Castro, Mao Zedong and Yuri Gagarin were hosted. The resort is located on the shores of Lake Balaton which is only 90km from Budapest.
We have 10-acre facility has 2km of beach front, and offers both adults and children a variety of recreational and leisure activities. We also have a 50-acre old-growth forest, with hardwood and evergreen trees which offer an ideal environment to refresh both your body and soul.
The 70’s style club, with lively atmosphere, is ideal for families, young people and those who are young at heart.
The holiday resort has many sports and entertainment possibilities in a pleasant setting. We offer numerous sports facilities for active recreation: sailing, tennis, basketball, soccer fields, beach volleyball, table tennis and more. All equipment and necessary items are available for rent.

The beautiful 2 km long beach surrounded by 10 hectares of ancient park is thanks to its unique location one of the most popular destinations by Lake Balaton.

This year for the ninth time, the Hungarian Beach Waterpolo Junior Championship takes place in Club Aliga.

Club Aliga offers accommodation of various categories. Our holiday resort is ideal for families, friends, and youth groups. Since 2008 we offer accommodation in 4 buildings including hotels and villas. Rooms range from doubles to apartments with up to 6 beds – all by the lake and at affordable prices.
Parking for our overnight guests is available free of charge.

The History of Club Aliga
Balatonaliga, the former holiday resort of the communist party survived World War
II with relatively little damage. In the coming years the resort became the centre
of youth and worker holidays.
In 1947, the youth movement "Miénk az Ország" made Aliga the centre of communist
youth holidays. During summer they housed about 1 800 children in the arbitrarily
expropriated private villas. In 1948, well-known politicians like Rákosi, Gero,
Rajk, Imre Nagy also spent their summer vacation in the expropriated private villas
of the resort.
In the early'50s along with the construction of the port of Aliga, some large-scale
earthworks started. In 1952 Mátyás Rákosi declaired the entire resort of Aliga with
the help of the State Protection Authority to strictly guarded, enclosed area.
After the freedom fights of Hungary in 1956, in summer of 1957 the holiday resort
was re-opened to the public. Aliga was also connected to the public ship transport
system of the lake.
The following year however, János Kádár, Secretary General of the communist party
ordered the area to be closed again. The area was split into a government holiday
resort (part closer to Akarattya), and into a holiday resort of the communist party
(part closer to Világos).
The parks, trails, hotels and the new buildings were maintained with great care.
The previously expropriated villas however, were destroyed unfortunately in the
70s and 80s.
János Kádár spent his summer vacation in Aliga for decades, in a relatively simple
villa that was built for him. His hobby was playing chess, but he also liked fishing
at Lake Balaton. Because of its location, Aliga was easily accessible and could
be perfectly guarded. Party leaders of socialist countries like Castro, Brezhnev,
Honecker etc. were also hosted in Aliga, in greatest secrecy of course. Usually
they came for a holiday, but important political negotiations were also not rare
in Aliga.
The MSZMP holiday resort (Balatonaliga - Fürdőtelep) remained even after 1989 state
property. In December 2006, the recreation center was privatized.
